One Fair Wage: The Key To Saving The Massachusetts Restaurant Industry Post-COVID 19

The subminimum wage for tipped workers is still just $6.15 an hour in the state of Massachusetts. A direct legacy of slavery, the subminimum wage affects a workforce of nearly 325,000 tipped workers that is 28 percent women and 70 percent people of color. Ending this low-wage carve-out positively impacts an overall restaurant workforce of nearly 240,000 Massachusetts workers.
